A year ago Baltimore ballhawk Grant Edrington had snagged a meager 10 balls in his entire life. This year, he's the myGameBalls.com Junior Ballhawk of the Year.
The teenager from Lutherville, MD was honored with the award after finishing his 2013 campaign with 102 balls over 40 games, a single-game high of 10 balls, and his first career game home run.
Edrington proved himself to be a formidable force on a Baltimore ballhawking circuit that includes ballhawking phenoms Tim Anderson and Alex Kopp. His stats showed great versatility, totaling 69 Hit balls, 25 Thrown balls, and 8 Found balls.
The highlight of his season came in his final game, when he snagged a Quintin Berry home run on the fly from Camden Yards' right field flag court. The snag, his first career gamer, was a difficult catch in the middle of heavy traffic.
Edrington was the clear choice for Junior Ballhawk of the Year, earning 19 first place votes, 1 second place vote, and 4 third place votes for a total of 63 points. Also finishing strong in the voting were Nick Badders (38 points) and Paul K (31 points).
